The Folk Group Voievozii

This group, from Bogdan Voda, was everybody's favorite. Accompanied by violin, zongora (a modified guitar) and drum, they had everyone dancing with them in every performance.

Here, they are waiting to perform just outside the dressing room (tent). Note the woman in the center holding a bottle. It does not contain water! All around the festival grounds you could see one-liter Romanian mineral water bottles. Did they even bring their own water? Of course not! It's tsuica! The strong fruity smell was everywhere. Often the one-liter bottles would be "decanted" into smaller soft drink bottles. For those "in the know" they would share a drink or two.

Occasional refreshment during this group's performance added to their charm - or maybe it was my occasional refreshment that added to their charm?
