One of the TAVERN PUZZLEs® by Tucker-Jones House. The objective is to remove the large ring. This is advertised as "simple" by Tucker-Jones.
 
The original puzzle is in a museum collection in Landis Valley, PA, birthplace of the Conestoga covered wagon. The design dates from the late 18th or early 19th century.
