Edward Hordern, the world's leading expert and solver of sliding block puzzles, sadly passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2000 after a long and courageous battle with failing health. His love and enthusiasm for puzzles was a great inspiration for everyone who knew him. All who knew him will miss him greatly.
For puzzle people not familiar with his extensive mechanical puzzle collection, Edward was perhaps best known for his book Sliding Piece Puzzles, which was partially a motivation for my creating this web site. In honor of his memory, this site presents a puzzle dedicated to him by one of his favorite designers, Minoru Abe.
